  • Managing Director

Len Fitzpatrick has 30+ years of work experience covering the areas of economics, finance, procurement and power plant development and management.

Len began his career lecturing extensively in economics at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Len then worked for a variety of Canadian government agencies or crown corporations as an economist and ultimately as Senior Economist, International Trade and Monetary Policy for Finance Canada.

Len moved to the private sector working for TransCanada Pipelines rising to Senior Financial Economist. Len next moved to Caterpillar SARL in Geneva, Switzerland quickly becoming Chief Economist for Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME).

Len moved out of economics and into Caterpillar’s EAME Marketing Division managing marketing responsibilities for waste, forestry, industrial products, and work tools across EAME and, on occasion, working on special projects for Caterpillar’s Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) department. Len relocated to Caterpillar’s US headquarters managing the world-wide customer satisfaction program, and then became a direct report to the Chief Procurement Officer tasked with improving commodity pricing strategies. Len added a direct reporting relationship into the Corporate Treasurer with the idea of closely aligning Procurement and Treasury functions to advance innovative finance strategies that aided procurement actions to reduce costs.

Len retired as Managing Director, Advanced Power Systems, when his portfolio of responsibility had grown to include Caterpillar’s captive power plant generation capacity across the US and Mexico through M&A and direct facility construction. Concurrently, Len filled the roles of Director of Procurement and Finance, with responsibility for the global supplier finance function. The latter included, the global supply chain finance function, the development of structured trade finance and alternative finance solutions working with internal business unit partners, driving strategy and implementing price lock solutions for purchases of energy, raw material commodities and precious metals in a risk management framework. He also had the remit with corporate stakeholders to expand standard payment term solutions and reduce non-standard payment term requirements.

Len received both his BA and MA in economics in 1987 from Carleton University, in Ottawa.
